Mural at Ada Jenkins (2018)

As president of the Art Honor Society, I was afforded the opportunity to create an art-based community project. While historically the Art Honor Society community projects are done at school, I wanted to create a new type of project that allowed us art students outside of our comfort zone and into the community. I had already been working at the Ada Jenkins community center (with La Escuelita), and I noticed that the wall beside the La Escuelita classrooms were perfectly suited for an upgrade—especially considering the kids at La Escuelita and of other community programs hosted at Ada Jenkins walk past that wall every day.

In collaboration with my art teacher Mr. Rogers and my mother Edna, I designed the aforementioned mural design and presented it to the Ada Jenkins board. Once my project was approved, I was lucky enough to work with some of my peers from January through April to create this project, both personally investing 100+ hours of community service and generating 400+ hours for my peers. A special thank you to the following for making this project possible:

Adults: Heidi Acker (leader at Ada Jenkins), James and Edna Wyatt, the Art Department at Cannon School

Peers: Andrew and Graham Ayer, Chrissy Stamey, Celine Ortiz, Megan and Ellen Weinstock, Mary Francis Harris, Griffin Jones, Mason Waite, Jack Seldon, Miles Batley, Jane Anthony, Mia Biehler

BUILDING FOR ORPHANS IN BOLIVIA (2017-2018)

Building Infrastructure for Orphans in Bolivia (summer 2017 and 2018)

In collaboration with Children’s Impact Network (CIN), I was lucky enough to work in Bolivia two weeks over summers of 2017 and 2018 to build infrastructure and provide services to orphan boys in Bolivia.
